Our Pic of the Week came to us as we continue to finish Karlyn's video. Wait 'til you SEE her TURNS! In fact, you don't have to wait. Check out this weeks Pic and let us know what you think.

Cool picture (when's the DVD Glenn...?:)

Can't wait for some good video of turning. Last week I was privileged to swim with a Latvian team swimmer (I think). We were doing a 100m set where by lengths 2 & 3 were slow/recoveries and 1 & 4 were all out. Granted he never went all out, but he did nicely pace me on the slow/recovery lengths. What really impressed me was his turns - yes I know he's a *much* better swimmer than me, yes I know he's a *much* faster swimmer than me (blah... blah) BUT the thing that really impressed was his turn speed - we swam the same pace into the wall for the final turn and BANG!!! Where'd he go?! By the time I'd flipped and gotten ready to push off - he was *MILES* in front.

Did I ask when the DVD's coming out?

Okay among the many things I like about this picture is the lack of turbulance and bubbles - very cool indeed.

Making great progress on the DVD. Just ran into a couple hold ups, plus had to go film Brendan (scheduling). Should have more news in the next 7-10 days. Man, I hate to make promises... but trust that I'm getting closer EVERY day. THAT'S a promise.

What I like is that she is actually LOOKING at her knees/feet as the feet hit the wall. I've been trying this at practice this week, and it really works to improve your sense of timing -- of being ready to push as soon as your feet hit the wall.

this is undoubtedly one of the reasons for all of her records-turns are so critical in dropping your times. great picture- i look forward to the video.

also, you can see from the splash that her feet have just hit the wall but look how quickly she has extended her body. what timing!

Barbara
Isn't it true that when you do the flip turn you actually "kick the wall" and therefore you need to be in perfect streamline position before "you kick the push-off"? Wouldn't Karlyn be "waisting" precious time waiting to see her feet hitting the wall? Thanks

Tomas :)

Does not seem she is waiting long.
