...here the swimmer seems to be turning the head only to take the breath......but i feel that the entire body needs to be turned half-way thro' to take the breath and not mere head alone because this would put unnecessary strain on the neck.....

Sure looks like her body is turned to me. Does it not appear as if she's lying on her side to you?

It would be useful with a bigger picture to see how both her arms are positioned while she is breathing? Is the catch arm fully outstreched and is her right arm above the water with a high elbow form?
