She is either trying to feel the extra resistance of such a position or she has already started her pullout. |

She will have a hard time getting up to the surface and maintain good speed, but a nice drill to practice the end of a dive when you race |

She looks like she's about to use the dolphin kick, which looks like it is going to be big since she is so deep. Pretty much at this depth, unless she just took a HUGE breath, shes gonna have to change her direction of movement to be uphill! On the other hand if she is moving fast and did take a huge breath, she could be a great depth to float up at just the right time with a great balanced streamline, and maintain maximum momentum through the breakout. Other things, the neck and head are in a great line with the body and the forearms look like great paddles, the lower back is a bit arched so probably not 100% stable. She probably has the back arched so that she can let her body dive deeper, which is probably going to lead to a loss in momentum from the wall. I sure wouldn't want to lose momentum from a wall in a breaststroke race.... I guess its time to watch the video? |

Woa, not as much undulation as I expected. But I do however notice that she does have her arms in that great phelps/rouse/lochte/coughlin/etc. streamline position that was talked about on the forum lately. Very tight streamlined dolphin kick, not much whippage of the feet but they are pretty flexible as she starts the down kick. I worry that she may never make it up to the surface though especially breathing her air out so soon! Her paddles are perfectly perpendicular to the direction of movement from the elbow to the finger tips through the entire pull. Her stramline really shows here as her hands seem to almost stand still as her body moves past them. I would argue that the dolphin kick could be performed much better though, of course not to change the great posture and streamline she has. |
