Swimming Set of the Week - August 12, 2008

Posted by Barbara Hummel on Aug 12, 2008 10:00AM (5,096 views)

Your set is to swim all the individual events that they swim in the Olympics (with the 10K open water as optional!) in the order that the Olympic finals are being swum.   Below is the order for men and for women.  If you want to mix it up a bit, wear fins every other swim...or wear fins on any 3 swims...or use other equipment that you like.   Don't worry about which energy systems you're trying to train...just have fun and, as you do the set, keep in your mind the images of your favorite swimmers from the Olympics (and Paralympics coming up in a few weeks).    If you need some help with those images, pick up copies of Go Swim's Beijing athletes:  Freestyle with Kara Lynn Joyce, All Strokes with Sandeno & Vendt, Breaststroke with Brendan Hansen, Backstroke with Aaron Peirsol, Sprint Freestyle with Roland Schoeman, Breaststroke with Amanda Beard, and Breaststroke with Dave Denniston.
