Swimming Set of the Week - August 19, 2008

Posted by Barbara Hummel on Aug 19, 2008 06:05AM (4,080 views)

Here's an IM set inspired by Michael, Ryan, Ktie, Natalie, Kirsty, Stephanie, Laszlo, and all the other great IMers we've been watching in Beijing.   This one gives you plenty of chances to experiment with your underwater dolphin kicks.   The sendoff will keep you on your toes, mentally.   Fins are optional on each set of 50s.

6 X 50 Butterfly
#1 & 2:  pick a sendoff that gives approx. 30 seconds rest
#3 & 4: take :10 off your sendoff
#5 & 6:  take another :10 off your sendoff

200 or 300 pull recovery, breathe every 3 or every 5

6 X 50 Backstroke
#1 & 2:  pick a sendoff that gives approx. 30 seconds rest
#3 & 4:  take :10 off your sendoff
#5 & 6:  take another :10 off your sendoff

200 or 300 pull recovery, breathe every 3 or every 5

6 X 50 Breaststroke
#1 & 2:  pick a sendoff that gives approx. 30 seconds rest
#3 & 4:  take :10 off your sendoff
#5 & 6:  take another :10 off your sendoff

200 or 300 pull recovery, breathe every 3 or every 5

6 X 50 Freestyle

#1 & 2:  pick a sendoff that gives approx. 30 seconds rest

Total Yardage:  2000 if you do 200s pull; 2400 if you do 300s pull

I'm going to try this tomorrow.

The only problem I see is in the first set. I'll have to remember to skip #3 and swim #5 twice. ;)
