Have you ever been filmed under water for your swimming and, if so, when you saw yourself, were you surprised by anything?

Always.

Only when I was doing my qualification and all I can say is they must have superimposed my head on someone else's body because I swim much better than that! LOL :)

I wanna do it but how I get this underwater camera?

amazon.com

Pentax and Olympus and Sanyo make ones that are good for personal use.

Billy / James; I Would like to buy an inexpensive one but, on say, amazon one finds many negative comments about these not so expensive unnderwater camcorders

One of my coaches stuck his mobile phone in one of those "jiffy bags" last year and video clips of each of us during a "hard" n x 200 set. The qualify was really poor, but the effect of seeing a lot of the reasons why I swim so slowly was priceless.

I was filmed underwater MANY years ago, but not with an underwater camera! The coach filmed with a regular camera through the observation window in the deep end that diving coaches use. The videotape is in a box somewhere - I'll have to dig it out and let you know.

I just got filmed 4 weeks ago for my Free. Wow, was that an education. Too many faults to list but it was a very enlightening look. Now, I plan on getting filmed at least once per month to help track my progress and correct faults. I plan on investing in an underwater camera in the near future. When I coach, I make sure to get in the water with my swimmers at least once a week because things that look OK from the surface are quite different from when viewed from under the surface.

Hey Paul. We're playing a bit with this Amazon thing... but look here for some good underwater cam options:

I was filmed underwater many years ago (at high school swim team practice), and it was a disturbing experience! I was sure they were wrong, and that was not me. I have always felt smooth and fluid in the water. I feel I move naturally and gracefully, which is so different than how I move on land.

The video proved otherwise. It looked like I was thrashing around and trying to muscle my way through the water. I have 2 hopes now: 1- that I will not be caught on film again, and 2- if I am caught, that the years will have slowed and softened my technique so that I look smoother!

(But I coach, and I do film other swimmers all the time with the Olympus 1030SW.)
