haha

Maybe the better question is how powerful is your pull compared to this guy?! With that arm position and his power he probably can pull a 100 faster than I swim...

Responded May 28, 2009 03:55PM

Pretty much the same...but I don't have those lats to pull back athough I do have a better head position.

Responded May 28, 2009 03:56PM

Ahhh Glenn...just for the record...this is MAY 29 not march 28 :) :) :)

Responded May 28, 2009 04:09PM

Got it. But it's actually May 28th :)

Responded May 28, 2009 05:09PM

He has one of the best catches in swimming!

Responded May 28, 2009 06:31PM

He looks good - mine is bit similar to him

Responded May 28, 2009 06:47PM

This guy is cool and fast

Responded May 28, 2009 07:29PM

Mine is similar, although usually a little less elbow bend at that point. I try to shoot for that though!

Responded May 28, 2009 07:34PM

Damn thing's so perfect he can't stop looking at it... good thing he has turbo's in those lats to overcome the frontal drag.

Responded May 28, 2009 11:21PM

How many secs he done at 50m or 100m freestyle?

Responded May 29, 2009 05:17AM

21.8 and 46.0 relay split lol

Responded May 29, 2009 10:43AM

That fast, dude lol

Responded May 29, 2009 10:46AM

He look like South African guy, Roland - its that him or what?

Responded May 29, 2009 12:09PM

haha. jason lezac. if you look under the picture you will read it ;) his catch is amazing.

Responded May 29, 2009 09:53PM

ahhhhh its Jason Lezak mmmm

Responded May 30, 2009 01:45PM

:) Jason actually wrote MY last post above. I was showing him the pic, and he grabbed my phone and typed it in. Pretty funny.

Responded May 31, 2009 09:43AM

soo, when is the dvd coming out :) ?

Responded May 31, 2009 04:22PM

I think it's a trick question. That's not his catch ;)

Responded May 31, 2009 07:10PM

isn't this pull in danger of finishing to deep???????.....he almost has the same muscles as I have....hahahaha.....but....the legs????

Responded Jun 01, 2009 06:21AM

I CAUGHT you, you do not know ;)

Responded Jun 02, 2010 08:29PM

Umm shouldn't his head be aligned with his spine?

Responded Jun 02, 2010 08:38PM

It is aligned with his spine. It's on top of his spine.

Just an FYI, "catch phrases" like, "head aligned with spine" get tossed out the window when you're looking at Olympic Champions. Enjoy what you're being shown when they show it, don't over analyze and compare with things you've read by people theorizing about how to swim fast, but rather, soak in what you can from this simple picture and take from it something that helps your swimming.

Don't forget, Jason still has covered the 100 meters in less time than anyone in the history of the world. Obviously, if he lowers his head, to "align it with his spine"... that wouldn't be the case. Too low, and you're done. Too high and you're done. All swimmers are different, so find your spot.

Best wishes in your search.

Responded Jun 02, 2010 08:55PM

It looks like he's riding his chest or extending his ribs from his hips. What do you think about that theory gleen? I think that his head is leading the stroke as an extension of his center of buoyancy.

Responded Jun 02, 2010 08:59PM

Personally... I think it's over-analysis. Not trying to be mean, but what I took from this picture that helped me in my swimming was simply the angle of his arm. Whatever it takes for Jason to get into that position, is whatever it took. If, for your own swimming or coaching, you find it better to dig into the depths of every nuance... then that works for you. Cool. For me, the way you're going about it would never compute as a swimmer, but I'm sure there are many swimmers out there who would love your analysis... I just wouldn't be one of them.

PS... It's Glenn. ;)

lol...only the 1 percent of of type personalities! KISS is always the best solution for all learning methods. It works great for my dog when teaching sprint doggy paddle. Talk about EVF!! Jason has nothing on my dog.

Responded Jun 02, 2010 09:20PM

Hmmmmm... I'd say Jason has about 2 minutes in a 100 free on your dog, but it would be a good race with me. ;)
