Coach and Friend Jimi Flowers - Updated

Posted by Glenn Mills on Jul 11, 2009 03:36PM (1,979 views)

Dave Denniston called this morning with the extremely sad news of our great friend, Jimi Flowers, passing yesterday.

Jimi was a former training partner and competitor of mine, who went on to coach at Auburn University, work at USA Swimming, and most recently, serve as the Paralympic Coach.  Coach and close friend of Dave Denniston,  Jimi was someone we all looked to for smiles, positive statements, and a caring heart.

Glenn,
I am very sad. I have known Jimi for a long time and enjoyed his company very much. I will always remember how much fun he was to swim with and just be around. He loved his job and enjoyed working with the swimming community. He was so excited when they picked the paralympic team but looked forward to seeing everyone do well at the meet.
USA Swimming has lost a great coach and we have lost a good friend.
My prayers are with his family and friends.
