PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The USA Swimming Foundation would like to invite you to a complimentary breakfast with 2008 African American Olympic gold medalist Cullen Jones to hear about USA Swimming's new water safety event - Make a Splash - on Wednesday, August 12. During the event, Cullen will speak about his journey from his own near-drowning experience to Olympic glory.

In the interest of promoting water safety and diversity in the sport of swimming, the USA Swimming Foundation has joined forces with ConocoPhillips to promote drowning prevention in the Seattle area. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast with community leaders, meet Cullen and learn how, together, we can make a difference for the children of Seattle. Given the recent situation in Philadelphia, this program is more important than ever.

If you would like to RSVP for the breakfast, please email Erin Greene at egreene@usaswimming.org or call 719-866-3556 by August 9th. Please note, we have limited seating at the event, so RSVP promptly if you plan to attend. Please see attached invitation for more information on the event. You can also follow Cullen at World Championships on Twitter @Jones41. We look forward to seeing you at the breakfast!

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND:

• Drowning is the second leading cause of injury-related deaths for all children aged 1-14
• Six out of 10 African American children are unable to swim
• The drowning rate for children from ethnically-diverse communities is more than double the national average
