Glenn & Alan Go the Distance at Great Chesapeake Bay

Posted by Barbara Hummel on Jun 14, 2010 11:07AM (1,533 views)

On Sunday, June 12th, Glenn completed his second Great Chesapeake Bay Swim and Alan Gruber completed his 14th crossing of the Bay. They'll probably be too shy to post their results, but Glenn ended up in 17th place overall (out of 597 finishers), with a time of 1:37.49 for the 4.4-mile swim.   Alan finished 108th overall, with a time of 1:53.00.    Congrats, Glenn and Alan.  You guys rock!

Thanks B. I also have to thank Al for his article, I was really thinking about it until about the 3 mile mark of the race. At that point, I switched from thinking about what Al had posted, to what Fran had taught on his DVD (totally serious). The "race" started well after the 3 mile mark, it was simply survival and conservation up to that point. Combining both sets of advice made the swim really fun.

Glen, congrats on a GREAT Bay Swim! That time is impressive for a breastroker. This bodes very well for your 10-mile Kingdom Swim!

An add-on Glenn, that bay swim time isn't just impressive for a breastroker it is impressive for anyone but it is ESPECIALLY impressive since you are renowned for your breastroke.
