I wonder if Karlyn is focusing on pulling with the upper part of the hand/wrist that she argues engage more easily the big muscles of the back...instead of focusing on the lower part/fingers of the hand that engage the smaller muscles of the arm. In any case it is a beautiful picture...she remains so horizontal!!! |

I would break my shoulder if I do that kind of pull. Am glad there are many techniques in swimming, pew! Looks so great though. Also, her body position is pefect. |

Thanks for the video, I've always wondered why people swim with their fingers relaxed, the video made a lot more sense of it, can't wait to try it out tomorrow morning:) |

nice video... relax fingers good exercice to focus on back muscles... but hands/fingers are also important in the first part of the stroke |

I've been using the Y pull for two days. First I focused on my wrist and my fingers were fluttering and my pull was poor. Next I focused more on the heel of my hand and my fingers were open and still and my stroke was good. I timed a few 25 pulls and was surprised by the good times and reduced effort. I am going to keep using the Y pull in all four strokes and see how my times change. |
