What would say if I told you this swimmer goes under 3:40 in 400 IM, and 1:42 in the 200 fly? He's very, very, very good. :) |

Are his initials R M? |
wow...ya he is very very very very good...:) |
Yes JZ. Good job! |

Ryan Murphy? |
I am not sure it is him, but Ryan still holds the US 10&11 age group record of 200fly with a time of 2:14.something. Quite impressive! Kind of cannot imagine right now there would be another super butterflier with initials RM. |

This swimmer is sub 2:00 200 fly long course, and 1:42 short course yards. His IM times are even more impressive. How about 4:12 long course 400 IM!! |

Robert Margalis is an awesome guy and glad you got on him on video. One of the great things about seeing him at a meet was how genuine he is. I am one of those coaches who likes to see the best get ready for races and step back to watch them, when they don't know any one is.. Will never forget my experience at the 2010 Austin Grand Prix. Took my 13 yr old blossoming swimmer to her first big meet (OME & deadlines got screwed up, went from 800 to 1250 swimmers, B-I-G meet) around the who's who of swimming (look a the results). All told she ended up with nearly 20 signatures and pictures with today's greats, including RM. She didn't know who he was and (as any innocent 13yr would ask) if he was somebody she should go ask for a pic & autograph. Told her he was a National Teamer and won at several big international meets (. He posed for the picture and signed the shirt graciously. He went on to win the 400IM that meet and she was so excited. The other moment came in the late hours of a finals session. The AB heats went first and after all those, CDE came next. It made for a late night and most bigger teams had kids in both sessions. During the CDE portion I was surprised to see most of FASTs elite team still there. Although it was just an instant in time, while some of the elite team members were engrossed in their smart phones, RM was surrounded by 10-15 of the young up-and-coming athletes at FAST. He was talking to all of them, seemed to be sharing stories and making casual conversation. He had all of their attention, it was awesome to see the kind of teammate he is. |

One of the many reasons I'm so glad to be able to present Robert swimming, is because of what a class guy he is. One of the legendary hardest working, most fit men in swimming. He's fast in every stroke, and is mostly, a tremendous person. Can't say enough about this guy, and thanks so much for your post wiken. Much appreciated. |
We are a group of swimmers who swim really fast, and like to help others learn how to reach their competitive potential in the area of professional swimming.
