Swimming Pics of the Week - October 6, 2011

A sequence of a teenage backstroker.

What are the positive things about what you see.  Remember... I said "positive."  Anyone can pick out what's wrong.  When you're working with young swimmers, don't forget, it's just as important to let them know what's RIGHT!

Nice body position, nice rotation (does he rotate on the other side just as well?). Nice in toeing on his kick. Quite a big amplitude on his his kick though, which could be the camera angle. Clearly has a good coach too.

I'm seeing a lot of his cap under water, so his head position is probably pretty good.

I like how his arm that's reaching back is right up next to his ear, especially in the first picture. That's the way my coach says I should be doing backstroke (and it's apparently a problem for me).

Good strech...

And nice position in the middel of the lane....

I see good foot position on the kicks (toes inward), and a really nice finish with his hands at the bottom of the stroke.
