Main Set Tuesday - Pit Stops

Posted by Glenn Mills on Jul 05, 2012 10:16AM (3,039 views)

One of my all-time favorite sets... probably because of my love of auto racing.  The ability to prepare for a quick change is important in this set.

Have a board ready, as this set requires it.  Even if you only like kicking without a board, use one in this set because without the board just makes this set boring.  The idea is to swim, then grab a board to kick, drop the board off to swim again.  As the intervals decrease, this pre-planning skill becomes more important and quick changes, like pit stops, can either make or break your ability to make the sendoff.

Main Set (short course yards):
 - 6 x 150 on 2:30 - 50 swim, 50 kick with board, 50 swim
 - 6 x 150 on 2:15 - 50 swim, 50 kick with board, 50 swim
 - 3 x 150 on 3:00 - 50 swim, 50 kick with board, 50 swim --  All FAST!

It's fun... really.

Also good to do this type of set but with the addition of Fins, Paddles, Pull bouy...any equipment really. Makes for a bit of madness at the end of the lane when you have a busy lane but keeps their mind in the game so to speak
