One Tuesday night I had the pleasure of hearing Mitch Albom speak. He came as part of a lecture series to the university where I am employed.
A few years ago, I had the privilege of doing a weekend clinic at Auburn University, with some of the greatest swimmers in the world. While there, and while having so much fun, an old friend of mine took me aside, and said, "You know, Glenn, you'd make a GREAT assistant coach."
I'm expecting a few extra gray hairs this weekend, when our swimmers face the league's #1 men's team and the league's #2 women's team. We are currently ranked #2 men's team and #1 women's team, and we are the league's defending champions in both categories, so you can see that this is a big matchup.
This past week I spent most of my time traveling to a couple different states filming for upcoming projects. It offered me the opportunity to talk with people at vastly different levels, and with vastly different goals, in our sport.

Here’s a message that was posted recently on the Go Swim discussion board:
Glenn,
Let’s assume we’ve done a good job teaching technique. How do we build the base that science tells us is so important and that the elite coaches rely on to get swimmers to swim real fast?
Here's an exercise you can do if you enjoy people watching. Sit down on your favorite park bench, preferably in an area where lots of people walk by, and notice the variety of strides, struts, strolls, and shuffles.

A few weeks ago, my good friend Don Walsh told me he was going to recieve the Distiguished Service Medal for his service in Vietnam over 30 years ago. I asked him to share his experience with our visitors, and the article that follows is his story.
"I missed my turn, Coach." "My start was slow." "My finish was slow." How often have you heard - or UTTERED - one of these commonplace excuses for a mediocre performance?
We are a group of swimmers who swim really fast, and like to help others learn how to reach their competitive potential in the area of professional swimming.
