I just got an email from my friend Holden Bank, the new 50-54 masters national record holder for the 50 breast. What's going on with the world these days, the breaststrokers are all going long!
In breaststroke, timing is everything, and knowing when to initiate the kick is a critical element in that timing. Steve Haufler's Separation Drill does a great job in over-teaching this simple step to a great breaststroke.
We recently started a service in which you have access to multiple videos through YouTube for rental. While our initial intent was to provide a service, especially, to our foreign customers, as YouTube is building this program, they've chosen to start it only in the U.S.
IM set this week, with plenty of chances to work on butterfly arm recovery, back/breast transition turns.
This week's Pic is a moving picture. Doing our best to illustrate the speed at which the hands and head need to move forward after the breath in breaststroke. Tell us how we (me) did. It's a work in progress... thanks to Roque Santos.
If you had ONE shot to use something that you know would make you faster (the suits), LEGALLY... would you take advantage of it, or would you go by the rules you know will be set in less than 2 weeks?
This drill is sent out to all our friends heading to US Masters Nationals in Atlanta this week. This will be pretty much the last weekend for the tech-suit era and, love 'em or hate 'em, they've made quite an impact on the sport.
Many of you know what a tech geek I am, and in reading many techy sites, there is a practice known as "unboxing."
Whenever given the opportunity to take some time to jump in the open water to do some swimming, it's one of those things you simply HAVE to do. That is, of course, if you plan on doing any open water swimming.
This Set of the Week contains many short swims, but if you challenge yourself on the sendoffs, it becomes a distance set.
I recently had a conversation with a swimmer who thought he was working hard, but had openly expressed his personal goals. Just a hint, there's a reason Michael Phelps rarely reveals his goals.
Working easy pace is always a good idea prior to long open water swims, so here's a standard set to make sure you're in the groove.
Keeping with our "sequence" type of images, this week it's a butterfly focus with Eric Shanteau.
The reviews are starting to come in. Please support our friends' sites and, of course, please support Fran by ordering his DVD here.
We are a group of swimmers who swim really fast, and like to help others learn how to reach their competitive potential in the area of professional swimming.
