During the highschool season we tapered a little for a feb. 10th meet and a full taper for states on feb.20th. since then, i have been double practicing 3 times a week and singles 6 days a week. I swam through ymca states that were this weekend and almost went my best 500 time. On march 15-18th i have winterchamps. My question is should i continue double practices for this week and taper next week? Im going for the team 1000 record which i missed by 2 hundreths of a second last year but my 500 time has improved this year.

Distance swimmers don't need as much rest as sprinters. Without knowing volume, pace, maturation level, and what type of practices you're doing... it's very hard to make a suggestion on this. What's your coach say you should do? Good luck, and always work your walls to grab those last few hundreths.

So i decided not to double workout because my coach has me doing some pretty intense sets. Like 3 1000's on 12 or 10 100 on 1:20 holding 1:03 or better. I feel like im working to hard when my big meet is only 10 days away
