How much is enough for 12 year old or not enough?

I am not sure how much yardage is enough for my 12 year old daughter. She has been swimming since she was nearly 7 years old. She has just started swimming the 1650 and has the A time for a 13-14 year old with only two swims. She is also within a second of JO qualifying times in the 50 back and 50 fly. She has also qualified in the 200 free and the 400 free (has not qualified yet in the 500). I am lost as to how she should be training. Her coach is less than helpful when I ask her. Just tells me she trains all the kids the same at this age. I don't want to burn her out but I also want her to have this year before she turns 13 to learn the 1650 and be ready to compete in it.

Any suggestions would be great!!! I just want to help achieve her goals. She currently swims 2 mornings a week and 5 afternoons.

2 mornings a week and 5 afternoons sounds like plenty of training time for a 12 year old to me. How much yardage is she typically swimming? You say you want her to learn the 1650 this year and be ready to compete in it. Why? What does she want?

I guess I should have worded it a little differently. Every practice she swims is her choice and every event is her choice. She loves the distance events and it was her choice to start swimming the 1650. I have heard the 1650 takes a while to learn to swim so that is why she wanted to start swimming it now.
