Head Lead Front Balance
Front balance teaches and easy position to learn alignment for head, neck, torso and hips to help teach you how to feel supported in the water.
Hold your hands at your sides, look at the bottom, and kick gently as you lie flat in the water.
Lean in on your chest, which will cause the hips to rise to the surface, getting your body into a straight line, parallel to the surface of the water.
Keep the kick small and easy. If you’re struggling with the kick, or kicking too hard, this can mask true balance with effort... stay easy.
Putting on fins sometimes helps those who have a hard time moving forward with little effort. The focus on this drill isn’t work, it’s easy and relaxation... fins can help.
When it’s time to breathe, lift your head directly up, which will cause your hips to sink. Don’t support yourself by sculling your hands, allow your hips to sink, then press your head and chest down to that level. Once your body achieves it’s natural balance point, you’ll pop back up to the surface.
