Ricky works with a stretch cord to help him learn a better catch on the water.

In this case, the cord is set so that he can make it all the way to the other end of the pool with a gradually increasing resistance.

When the cord starts to get tighter, Ricky makes sure his kick remains steady.  The cord may cause the hips to drop a bit, so a good kick will be essential.

Before the cord gets too tight, he makes sure he’s setting up a long, smooth stroke as a good foundation.

When the cord is at it’s tightest, Ricky holds the water through the end of the pull, but rotates the hand JUST prior to exit for a smooth transition from pushing to recovery.
