Sometimes you want to see if you are making progress with ritual and routines of safety in special needs adaptive swim programs. In a structured way we decided to see what would happen if mom let go of James hand at our lesson. You see that he runs and jumps in even after doing a safe routine for several weeks and years with us. When you have a swimmer so attracted to the water try having a routine like asking before they get in the bathtub, asking or tapping the shoulder to signify they want to get in the pool anything that will creatively solve this problem. Our parents need to have instructors educate themselves with FREE or paid information so that we can help these families have peace of mind for their swimmers. The second half of the video occurred about 2 months later.
