*Seeking Sensory Input*

Giving Sensory Input to improve focus and attention for success with swim strokes. This young boy has Down Syndrome. He loves being in the water but is unable to successfully use his arms and legs together as he swims. He seeks the sensory input of the water and likes to stay under without using his arms and legs to propel himself. When we structure sensory input into the lesson, spinning movement with the “tricky train”, heavy work with climbing out at the side, and the reward of jumping in and going under, he is more focused on the swim skills. Fading physical prompts to just a visual prompt is the plan to eventually not have to prompt him at all.
