Stand with your back toward the attachment and grasp one handle in each hand with the palms facing forward.  Stand far enough from the attachment so that when you stand erect with arms stretched out to form a “T,” the cords are straight but carry little or no tension.  Notice that Signe’s hands are slightly below the level of her shoulders.  This is to avoid putting excess stress on the shoulder joint.  

While keeping an erect posture and looking straight ahead, and while keeping the elbows and arms straight, sweep both hands forward until the palms come together out in front of the body, at about chest height.  Control the movement as the hands sweep in…and as they return to the starting position.  

It’s important not to HELP the movement of the arms by using your torso, hips, and legs – or by bending the elbows.  Try to isolate the working muscles – the muscles in front and in back of the shoulders – and let them do the work
