Today we're gonna discuss backstroke recovery and making sure that it's a thumb out pinky in entry. Now strangely enough today's video and Instagram was up by Margaret Holt's are featured Margaret Holzer and Margaret does a really interesting thing, in that she enters with her thumb first. This is one of those very unique things that Olympians or the great swimmers sometimes figure out on their own. It's a totally different conversation. So I want you to go check out her video when you get a chance. So the idea here is to purposely think about the thumb coming out at the finish. So it's almost like you're rubbing your palm against your thigh on the way out. And then to have your hand transition over into a Pinkie first entry. And one way to do that is to visibly see it is to have it happen at the peak or the top of the rotation. So what I'll do is swim some nice, slow backstroke. And there's going to be a very purposeful point, or maybe even a little hesitation, about halfway through the recovery, so that I can see my hand go from thumb lead to pinky lead. Now, this should also help me get the hand a little bit outside, so it doesn't come over the top of my head. So when I go from here to here, the elbow goes out just a little bit more, which should place the hand almost directly above the shoulder upon entry. The other thing is that the entry doesn't just stop at the surface, it goes below the surface to the point of the catch. And so the pinkie does allow that to occur a little bit better than the hand being flat, or the thumb being in not talking to you, Margaret, you do what you do, because you're really good. Okay, so let's, let's give this a shot. Let's now go a little bit faster.
