Freestyle - Martyn Forde

Martyn started swimming at the age of four with Stingrays Swim Club on the island of Barbados in the Caribbean. At the age of sixteen He left to the USA to train at Fort Lauderdale Swim Team.

Martyn later went on to attend the University of Toronto where he was coached by Byron MacDonald and Linda Kiefer. He was a Canadian Inter-university Sports Champion (CIS 2008) in the 50 freestyle.

It was as part of the Toronto Swim Club that Martyn qualified for the Beijing Olympics in the 50 meter freestyle. Martyn has represented Barbados at the World Championships in Barcelona (2003) Montreal (2005) Melbourne (2007) and Rome (2009).

He has also competed in the Pan American Games in Mexico (2011) where he was a semi-finalist in the 50 meter freestyle.

Martyn is the Barbadian National record holder in the 50 m freestyle short course. In 2011 Martyn joined Club Wolverine Elite under the tutelage of Mike Bottom and Mark Hill.
