Here's a short video I shot on my iPhone during a recent practice.

We're using a stretch cord to help the swimmers learn how to hold water better.  The more the cord stretches, the tougher it gets to move forward.

We set the initial goal for the swimmers, and then if anyone beat that mark, the pull-buoy marker was moved forward.

Through competition, the swimmers will work a bit harder, dig a bit deeper, and strive to go just a bit further.  This effort and learning translates directly to their swimming.

Assisted swimming, which is the last clip is also a great teaching tool.  However, please make sure you keep the cord underwater and use a cord with a safety strap built inside the cord.  If the cord snaps, the water reduces all of it's energy and there's no problem.  If the cord snaps and it's above water, it's very dangerous.
