New pools are always frustrating because you don’t know what those walls are.  The home pool...the one your train in every single day...the one that you’ve done a hundred turns in...those are the easiest ones to do turns in because you know what the wall looks like.  You know when it’s coming up.

I always make it a point before a swim meet to get used to the walls.  I do lots of ins and outs.  Lots of practice turns to make sure I know what that wall looks like and so that I know how to finish how to turn.  

I definitely sight the wall a little bit before.  You definitely do not want to pick your head up and look at the wall the entire time you’re doing that.  The ideal body position is not breaking the stroke and you’re continuing the normal stroke the entire time going into the turn.
