The FINIS Swimsense Performance Monitor helps you make sense of your swim workouts by capturing critical data while you train.

The monitor straps onto your wrist like a watch, and uses high-tech motion sensors to record how far you swim, how many strokes you take, your pace, splits, distance per stroke, and calories burned.

The Swimsense Monitor records all this data automatically. Once you configure the watch with your age, weight, watch position (right or left wrist), and the size of your pool (yards or meters), you’re ready to go. All you have to do is hit the START button at the beginning of your workout, and Swimsense does the rest.

The Swimsense Monitor can recognize which stroke you’re swimming, whether it’s freestyle...

...backstroke...

...breaststroke...

...or butterfly.

Even if you’re swimming an IM, the monitor knows when you change from one stroke…to the next.

It can automatically sense when you finish an interval and when you’re resting at the wall.

One thing you need to remember is that the monitor does not yet recognize kicking or drills, so you need to pause or stop the device during those times.

With the Swimsense Monitor, you can swim comfortably from start to finish through your workout without having to press any buttons...except for the START button. As you swim, the monitor captures your data and you can view it immediately on the device...or upload it to the Finis website for further review on your computer.

If you want to look at basic data during your workout, you can customize how the data appears on the screen. The most popular way is to set the screen up like this...with total yards at the top, your time in the middle, and calories burned at the bottom.

After your swim, you can also review your data by stroke TYPE. For example, you can see how many yards of freestyle you’ve swum, how much TIME you’ve spent swimming freestyle, and the average number of strokes you’ve taken per length.

You can also view your swim details by INTERVAL. For example, on this screen the swimmer can see his time for a certain interval, the number of strokes he took, and the calories burned.

The Swimsense Monitor provides immediate and real-time data at the pool, letting you view your current swim and up to 14 previous workouts.

But the true benefits of the Swimsense Monitor begin when you connect it to your computer and begin to analyze your data. And Finis makes this super easy and completely Free of Charge.

The Swimsense Monitor comes with a docking station and USB cord.

Simply connect the USB cord to the docking station, and then plug it into the USB port on your computer. The device works with either Mac or PC.

When you clip the Swimsense watch to the docking station, the battery will begin to charge. When fully charged, the Swimsense Monitor provides 12+ hours of swimming use, 150+ hours of non-swimming use, and 300+ hours in sleep mode.

Once the watch and docking station are connected to the computer and you have an Internet connection, you’ll launch a software application called the Swimsense Bridge.

The Swimsense Bridge does two things. First, it allows you to obtain firmware updates from Finis every time they add a new feature to the watch. Updates are quick and easy -- similar to how you would update your phone or iPod.

Second, the Swimsense Bridge acts as a bridge...transferring workout data from your watch to the online Swimsense Training Log, where you can ANALYZE your data from the cloud.

When you launch the Swimsense Bridge, click UPLOAD, and your workout data is automatically uploaded through the Bridge and will appear on the online Swimsense Training Log account that you create. Workouts are automatically saved for as long as you have an account.

You can think of the Swimsense Training Log as a free logbook that saves all your workouts in one place… with the ability to view them at any time.

To access your data, go to Swimsense.com and log in using your email address and password.

At the Swimsense Log, you’ll be able to search all your workouts …and all of the data within each workout, including distance, pace per 100, average stroke count, total time, rest time, calories burned, pace, your SWOLF score (which is calculated by your time and stroke count), and stroke analysis including your stroke rate and distance per stroke.

The Swimsense Performance Monitor is compatible with several partners, including Training Peaks, RunKeeper, 2Peak, and Sport Tracks, allowing you to upload data collected by Swimsense directly to the partner websites.
