Building on Step 1 in this progression, we move forward slowly.

Step 2 starts with the swimmer in the extended position with the hand lowered into the correct line.

1 - Using fins to drive the swimmer forward, have the swimmer find the position with the lead hand in line.
2 - When the swimmer feels the hand floating out front, have her slowly take a stroke, and switch to the extended position on the other side.
3 - Make sure the swimmer keeps the hand directing forward and go back a step if the hand starts to get too close to the surface on extension.

Take your time on this step, as the swimmer can typically switch back to "swimming" rather than breaking down the steps.

Step 3 will move the swimmer forward into swimming.
