Watching Connor sprint backstroke is indeed another lesson that there are many ways to swim fast.

His pull is very shallow with less elbow bend that we would have anticipated, and the hip rotation is minimal as well.  With less roll of the hips, he is able to create incredible rate which helps him achieve his highest speed.

The quick, downward press of his hand at the finish of the pull also helps him pop from one side to the other very quickly.  Even though the hand presses down at the finish, it's still shallow enough for a fast exit into the recovery.
