Better Freestyle Concepts

When swimming freestyle, you want to make sure your head is in a position that allows your neck to be relaxed. Looking up too high, or down too low can cause strain and also limit rotation.

Imagine that your head is in a position that you’re looking JUST slightly forward, in front of you. Not directly under, but just ahead of where you’re going.

A good way to think of this is that your head is in the position it would be in if you were standing proudly, or at attention.

If you feel strain in your neck, try adjusting the position up or down a bit until you’re completely relaxed.
