Using one arm at a time for backstroke can help you focus on the pull and connection without having to worry about the timing of the stroke.  To set up this drill, you’ll see that our swimmer is taking a couple of strokes with one arm, and then switching to the other arm.

Just like in our other drills to make it easier you can use fins. A very important aspect of single-arm backstroke is rotation. In order to get the pulling arm deep enough into the water, you'll need to rotate the shoulder of the arm held down by your side out of the water. Take a couple of Strokes with one arm and then switch to take a couple of Strokes with the other arm.

When you take the pull with pulling arm try to have your elbow bent in a 90-degree angle. always remember the pinky in and thumb out exit into the recovery.

Keep your kick constant but small.   remember to keep your head stable as you rotate the body from side to side.
