Focusing on freestyle breathing, we know that when the head turns, that's the most opportune time for imbalance to be created. kind of a weird way to say it. But the idea is that the more time you spend in the breathing position, the better chance you're going to go out of balance. So the, the thought process here is to make sure that there's a couple things, one, that you're exhaling enough air underwater, that you don't have to spend a lot of time in the breathing position. And to that, you rotate the head down, back down toward the water surface or underwater, prior to the arm, the recovering arm coming in. Now, I'm just going to breathe to my right this time, or go nice and slow on it. So you can see a standard breath, which, in my opinion, creates an opportunity for imbalance, because the head is going to be rotated for so long. So it's almost like the entire time that the recovery is going on the are the head is turned into the breathing position. So it's almost like I consider it closing the door, you open the door when the arm or the shoulder gets out of the way. And then you close the door when the arm lands in the water. And the entire time that that is open, the head is in the breathing position. That is where people can find that the other arm the opposite arm will be leveraging or falling or swaying or sculling and not getting into a proper set position. So the second way that I'm going to do it is that I'm going to make sure that I focus on turning my head to air as soon as the shoulder is out of the way. But I'm going to turn my head back down prior to the arm coming in. So the head leads the way as far as reading is concerned. The idea here is that I'm going to spend as little time in the breathing position as possible, spending far more time in the head down position, giving less opportunity for imbalance to creep in. So we'll see how it looks probably about 20 strokes breathing regular and 20 strokes breathing what I consider a better way.
So for me the second way so much easier. just spent so much time in the head down position. Now there's people that do this a different way. One is a Bruno fratus. Unbelievable sprinter, great swimmer. He breathes late. But breathe so fast, as far as a head turning up and down that he spends less time than just about anybody in the in the breathing position. So I encourage you to go watch his video to see the opposite of what I do. And he's a lot better. But I think mine is a little bit easier to teach people. And Bruno is a very dynamic individual as far as how he swims unbelievable. But it does show that there's always another way to do something. So experiment he planned and have a great day.
