Flippers are a fun way to gently strengthen your abs and lower-back muscles.  Keep your posture erect, with feet and ankles held close together.  Move your body in a powerful, undulating, fluid dolphin motion.  Bend the knees slightly as the feet and legs push backward to prepare for the forward kick.   Feel the arch and contraction of muscles in the small of your back as you do this.  Then propel the feet forward in a powerful kick.  Hold arms and hands together in front of your chest during the backward push of the legs, then push down and our as the legs kick forward.  You can also try crossing your arms and holding onto your shoulders.
